Avatar Fire And Ash Box Office prospects in North India is poised for a major shift as Dhurandhar continues its extraordinary run and prepares to dominate the crucial third weekend. With momentum firmly on its side, the Jio Studios-backed Spy action drama is expected to significantly dent the box-office prospects of Avatar: Fire and Ash in the Hindi-speaking belt.
Dhurandhar has shown no signs of slowing down since its release. Strong word of mouth, repeat value, and mass appeal have ensured sustained footfalls well beyond the opening week. Trade suggest that the film will remain unstoppable in its third weekend, with distributors confident enough to retain a minimum of 2,000+ screens nationwide. More importantly, the film is expected to enjoy strong showcasing across multiplexes as well as single screens in North India, where audience response has been exceptional.
The family audience, traditionally a decisive factor during weekends-has clearly made Dhurandhar its first choice, this trend further strengthens the film’s hold, making it extremely difficult for a new release to carve out meaningful space.
Under normal circumstances, Avatar: Fire and Ash was tracking an impressive ₹35–40 crore nett opening in India, with the Hindi belt expected to contribute ₹15–20 crore on its own. However, the ground reality has changed drastically. Dhurandhar is set to eat into a substantial portion of Avatar’s screens in North India, without any doubt. The impact is expected to be severe, as exhibitors are prioritizing a proven, audience-backed performer over a new release facing direct competition.
The North Indian market, crucial for Hindi collections could witness a sharp drop in Avatar’s expected numbers due to reduced screen count and show allocation. What was once projected as a smooth and strong opening now looks far more challenging under these circumstances.
Had Avatar: Fire and Ash arrived as a solo release, the Hindi belt business would have been significantly stronger. However, with Dhurandhar dominating the marketplace, the battle for screens and shows is clearly tilted in favor of the latter.
All eyes are now on 19 December, which will reveal the actual box-office outcome. One thing, however, is already clear: Dhurandhar has firmly positioned itself as a box-office juggernaut, making life extremely tough for any competing release in North India.
