If you’ve grown up watching the iconic collaborations of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan, this one feels like a nostalgic homecoming. Bhooth Bangla brings back their signature madness, vintage humor, and that unmistakable charm that defined an era of Bollywood comedy.
The film thrives on pure situational comedy, the kind that doesn’t rely on forced punchlines but emerges organically from chaos. The first half is a laughter riot, packed with one hilarious sequence after another, keeping the audience constantly engaged and entertained.
Akshay Kumar is in top form, delivering a performance that reminds you why he remains one of the finest comic actors in the industry. His chemistry with the late Asrani, Paresh Rawal, and Rajpal Yadav adds immense value. The humor is physical, situational, and occasionally naughty but never overdone.
The interval block stands out as one of the film’s biggest strengths, delivering a twist that genuinely shocks and intrigues. Director Priyadarshan smartly blends mythology, horror, and comedy, leaving the audience hooked with the mystery of Vadhushur, who he is and what he represents.
While the first half leans heavily on comedy, the second half shifts gears into a more story-driven narrative, exploring Vadhushur’s backstory in depth. The screenplay introduces multiple twists and turns that keep the tension alive. The climax is visually impressive, backed by strong VFX, making it one of those rare horror-comedies where both genres work effectively together.
Performance-wise, Akshay Kumar is outstanding, effortless in comic scenes and equally impactful in the more intense second half. The late Asrani delivers a memorable act with impeccable dialogue timing. Rajpal Yadav is in top-notch form, while Paresh Rawal remains reliably effective.
Tabu, however, feels underutilized-her cameo deserved more screen time given her stature. Jisshu Sengupta performs well, while Wamiqa Gabbi and Manoj Joshi have limited scope.
On the flip side, the music is underwhelming, the runtime feels slightly stretched (a tighter edit by about 15–20 minutes would have helped), and the second half could have benefited from more comic moments.
Final Verdict
Bhooth Bangla is a thoroughly entertaining ride that successfully balances laughter and chills. It revives the classic Priyadarshan-style comedy while adding a modern horror twist.
At the box office, the film has strong potential to collect ₹120–150 crore and emerge as a hit.
