Home / Box Office / De De Pyaar De 2 Holds Well on Monday
De De Pyaar De 2 showed a steady hold on Monday, collecting ₹5 Cr nett, a fair result for a rom-com in the current post-pandemic era. With this, the film’s 5-day total stands at approximately ₹43.25 Cr nett, a figure that is almost in the same range as the first instalment released six years ago.
On paper, the numbers may appear average given the franchise value and the strong cast led by Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, and R. Madhavan. However, the performance must be viewed in the context of the post-COVID theatrical market, where the urban rom-com genre has been hit the hardest. Audiences today prefer watching such light-hearted, relationship-driven stories on OTT platforms rather than in cinemas.
In fact, in the last five years, only Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar has managed to deliver a bigger 5-day total than De De Pyaar De 2 among rom-coms , a statistic that highlights the challenging scene this genre currently faces at the box office.
The film is expected to see an uptick on Tuesday, thanks to the ongoing ₹99 and ₹149 ticket pricing in several cinema chains, which typically boosts footfalls on weekdays.
With these trends, De De Pyaar De 2 is now headed towards a first-week total of ₹55–57 Cr nett, which would be a fair outcome for the film given the market realities and genre limitations.
